Drop In, Not Locked In: Inside Goer’s Mission to Revolutionize Austin Fitness and Wellness.

AUSTIN (Austin Fitness Community) - Austin is widely recognized as one of the most active cities in the country, yet everyday athletes and boutique studio owners alike have long wrestled with two sides of the same frustrating coin. Consumers battle subscription fatigue, locked-in contracts, and expiring credit packs, while studio owners watch prime floor space sit empty during mid-day lulls. Enter Goer, a newly launched mobile marketplace and fitness app designed to bridge that gap by turning unsold fitness and wellness spots into discounted, last-minute bookings - with zero memberships, zero credit bundles, and zero commitments.
The concept was born out of personal friction experienced by Co-Founder and COO Ryan Clarke. Following an eight-season career in professional Australian rules football, Clarke took a year to travel the world and immediately hit a wall attempting to drop into local gyms without getting trapped in paperwork or recurring charges. He sketched a runner wearing a backpack into his travel notebook - an emblem that remains the company’s logo today and set out to build a streamlined solution.

Driven to execute, Clarke sent a cold LinkedIn message to Mindbody co-founder Blake Beltram. Recognizing the disruptive potential of solving boutique capacity on demand, Beltram signed on first as an adviser and ultimately as Co-Founder and CEO, pairing decades of institutional software leadership with Clarke’s boots-on-the-ground founder momentum.
Unlike credit-pack models that charge upfront fees before members even know their schedule, Goer prioritizes total flexibility across three dedicated verticals: Gyms, Classes, and Wellness.
"Credit models make you buy into a system first, then work out how to spend it," Clarke explains. "Credits expire, prices move around, and you end up booking stuff just to avoid wasting money. Goer flips that. You don't owe us anything until you actually want to go. And because studios release spots anywhere from 48 hours to 2 hours in advance, you're usually getting in under the door price. Drop in. Not locked in."
For local facilities, Goer transforms empty space into incremental revenue without cannibalizing existing memberships. Studios choose their quiet windows—such as mid-morning or early afternoon - set their own pricing, and release spots on their own terms. While reformer Pilates and open gym day-passes have seen rapid adoption, contrast therapy options like cold plunges and infrared saunas have emerged as immediate standouts for people seeking recovery without paying for an expensive recurring club dues.
"Every studio owner has the same problem. The 6am and 6pm classes are packed and the 10am Tuesday class has four people in it," says Clarke. "That empty spot is money they never get back... Users get flexibility and a better price. Studios get new faces in rooms that would've sat empty. Everyone wins."

Goer celebrated its official debut on September 26 with an electric community launch party hosted at Squatch Frontier Fitness, uniting local studio owners, coaches, and everyday lifters. Backed by a $2 million pre-seed round, the leadership team deliberately bypassed cities like New York and Los Angeles to plant its flag in Austin first, capitalizing on the city's concentrated fitness density, tech appetite, and community-first mindset.
Looking ahead, Goer is focused on saturation across every Austin neighborhood before expanding into major metropolitan hubs worldwide. The long-term mission remains straightforward: dismantle the friction around moving your body. As Clarke puts it, "The fewer barriers between people and moving, the more people move. Just go."
